Job description:
This position identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards alumni, parents and friends of Illinois Wesleyan University for annual and major capital gifts.

Primary Responsibilities:
•        Accepts responsibility for the cultivation and personal solicitation of a portfolio of major gift and planned gift prospects. The goal is to close major annual ($100,000) and capital fund gifts from these prospects ($300,000 escalating to $1,000,000 over time). To achieve these goals you are expected to make 100 or more personal visits to prospects each year and ongoing communications with prospects.
•        Provides regular progress reports as set by the Advancement Department
•        Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of Illinois Wesleyan’s programs and investment opportunities, both University-wide and specific to the University’s various schools and departments
•        Identifies and researches other individual, corporate, and foundation prospects in the region capable of providing major annual and capital gifts to the University. You will cultivate and personally solicit these prospects
•        Coordinates development-related travel and calls in the region for the President and other University representatives
•        Provides direction and support for regional activities, which are part of future campaigns for Illinois Wesleyan. Responsibilities include recruits and trains volunteers; provides staff support for volunteer leaders as assigned; plans campaign meetings; supervises campaign volunteers; assists volunteers in the completion of solicitations and other campaign assignments; plans travel and meetings for campaign volunteers; coordinates campaign follow-up to facilitate the completion of recruitment and solicitation assignments; and other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Advancement.
•        Performs other tasks as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Advancement and the Vice President for University Advancement
Skills:
Qualifications:
•        A bachelor’s degree is required
•        Has five years of professional fundraising experience preferred, CFRE desirable
•        Possesses expertise in cultivating major and deferred gift commitments, preferred
•        Exhibits excellent written and oral communications
•        Is proficient in word processing and Excel computer programs
•        The ability to work independently to meet annual goals is critical for success
•        Extensive travel throughout the United States, with extended overnight travel is required
•        Long and flexible hours including some evenings and weekends are required
