General Summary:

Coordinates all aspects of supervised clinical experiences for students in assigned program, to include but not limited to student placement, facility outreach, and site compliance.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain partnerships with clinical experience facilities to recruit and retain their participation as clinical preceptors.

Complete records and reports, including but not limited to, practice experience progress reports, facility feasibility reviews and reports, and any special reports as directed.

Analyze and troubleshoot any issues and/or problems related to the practice experience courses, including student performance issues, preceptor concerns, personality differences, schedule emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.

Respond to advising, career and licensing related questions from students in assigned program. Conduct individual appointments, respond to emails, and maintain calendar and supervisor scheduling of student clinicians and clients each semester.

Complete records and develop reports, including but not limited to clinical experience progress reports, facility feasibility reviews and, any other special reports as directed.

Serve on committees and advisory boards to create/update the learning outcome student evaluation tool and accompanying student/preceptor instructions for all practice experience courses, aiding in the development of orientation and marketing materials.

Perform related duties as required.

Supplemental Information:
The Physician Assistant (PA) program is a 24 month Masters program with two cohorts, approximately 30 students per class, a PA Director, six full-time faculty (including the Director of Clinical Education), an Administrative Associate, and a Medical Director. The core duties of the PA Program Clinical Coordinator are as follows:
        Responsibility for day-to-day operations of the 12-month clinical year of students in the Physician Assistant program including ensuring student placements and site compliance
        Close collaboration with the Director of Clinical Education for scheduling four-week and six-week rotations for 30 students over a 12-month period, resulting in 300 annual PA clinical placements.
        Familiarity with the standards of the ARC-PA (the physician assistant education accreditation body), particularly as they relate to students in the clinical year of PA education. Maintenance of the PA Program's ARC-PA portal regarding program data, clinical rotation data, clinical site information, and student performance. This task will be performed under the direction of the PA Program Director.
        Data collection analysis and associated tasks in the following areas: Providing input regarding building and maintaining systems for collecting and storing clinical rotation and student clinical performance data, as well as data analysis and report development related to student performance during clinical rotations, preceptor site performance, and site adequacy. This data may be presented at internal program meetings and external meetings with preceptors as requested by the PA Program Director. Additionally, this position will be required to assist the program with data analysis needs prior to faculty conference presentations.
        Data organization and collection related to student performance on Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) standardized end of rotation exams.
        The individual in this position may also elect to:
o        Assist PA Program faculty with the development and completion of grant and Institutional Review Board applications, as well as associated projects such as data analysis and conference presentations.
o        Participate in hiring and admissions committees within the PA Program.


Knowledge, skills and abilities to coordinate multiple aspects of an assigned education program obtained by completion of a Bachelor's degree in assigned discipline or related field or comparable combination of education and experience is required. Master's degree may be required depending on the discipline.

Minimum three years of work experience in assigned discipline is required.

Ability to work with diverse groups of people and organizations is required.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is required.

Familiarity with computers including the usage of email, word processing, spreadsheets and databases is required.

Knowledge of software management systems used in the Clinical Year /GME to manage trainee appointments, clinical rotation schedules, evaluations, duty hours and case logs is desired.

Knowledge of and experience with accreditation and student assessment processes is desired.

Prior experience in advising students is desired.
