Job Title: Assistant Professor (Therapeutic Recreation)

Job description:
A nine month, tenure-track position in the Therapeutic Recreation program in the School of Health Sciences within the College of Health & Human Services.
Salary: Eastern Michigan University offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
Responsibilities:
1.        Instruction. Teach a range of undergraduate courses in the therapeutic recreation curriculum. Responsibilities will include course preparation, curriculum development, quality teaching, continued instructional assessment and practicum/internship supervision that lead to the Bachelor of Science degree in therapeutic recreation.
2.        Scholarship. Develop a clear research agenda that leads to refereed publications and professional presentations. Develop and submit internal and external grant proposals in related areas of interest.
3.        Service. Provide service work at the program, department, college, university, community, and professional- organization level. Advisement of therapeutic recreation students.


Required Qualifications:
1.        Doctorate in therapeutic recreation from an accredited institution or doctorate in a related field with at least one degree in therapeutic recreation from an accredited institution.
2.        Must be currently credentialed as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) by the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
3.        Strong clinical background working as a recreation therapist with the CTRS credential.
Preferred Qualifications:
1.        Demonstrated teaching excellence at the college level in therapeutic recreation.
2.        Strong interest in research with a publication record.
