Illinois Wesleyan is a nationally ranked, small, private, undergraduate liberal arts university with highly selective admission criteria and a tradition of teaching excellence. Scholarly productivity is supported including collaborative research with faculty and students. The University community prides itself on a strong rapport among students, faculty, and staff.
Consistent with the University's mission that emphasizes integration of liberal arts and professional education, the Department of Accounting and Finance strives for excellence in undergraduate financial education by preparing professionals with a strong applied and theoretical foundation in finance, accounting and business. Our graduates are widely respected for their analytical skills, ability to communicate, and leadership potential.

The applicant will provide evidence of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate level and present a plan for an active scholarly agenda. Candidates at the associate level must provide evidence of scholarship completed in the discipline. In addition, preferred candidates will have relevant professional work experience in the financial services industry. Ideally, candidates will be able to contribute to the university’s broader curriculum as well, including general education courses teaching writing and critical thinking. The University and Department are committed to the recruitment, inclusion, and success of an increasingly diverse and international student body, and candidates are urged to highlight any experience or background that may help them contribute to these goals in their application materials.
Our primary need is for someone to teach three to five sections of introductory financial concepts and a 300 level non-investment related elective in the spring. However, the candidate will be also be expected to teach a variety of undergraduate finance courses at all levels (corporate finance, banking, derivatives, investments) in a liberal arts environment. We seek candidates who are truly superior undergraduate teachers and have a commitment to research. The successful candidate is expected to advise undergraduate majors, supervise undergraduate research, produce scholarship, and perform departmental/university-wide services.
