Job description:
Incumbent serves as the Manager, Business Development and Strategy for Ambulatory Surgery Centers.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Perioperative Services, the incumbent will be responsible for the business development, strategic planning, and strategy deployment for the department of Perioperative Services, hospital licensed ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), and AAAHC ASCs. The incumbent will be responsible for working with key stakeholders to develop short- and long-range goals that improve the overall market position, financial performance, utilization of resources, and ability to provide patient-centered care in a coordinated way. In collaboration with the Senior Director and Chief Operating Officer, the incumbent will provide high level business planning, financial analysis, strategic analysis and guidance to facilitate and direct decision making for internal customers for new system initiatives, including new ventures. This position has the following summary responsibilities:

Develop business plans, financial forecasts, and pro-formas for Perioperative Services leadership, PSSC, and other key stakeholders to encourage robust decision making for ASCs both on the hospital license and in the community.

Collaborate with key stakeholders to lead the strategy deployment and implementation that incorporates operational, regulatory, contracting, and other external constraints.

Assist with ongoing monitoring so that business plans are implemented in a timely and cost-effective manner; successfully problem solve and escalate barriers that may prevent overarching success.

Support planning that drives success with strategic contracting, procurement, space allocation, and other resource utilization.
Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders throughout the organization such as Clinical Directors, Clinical Chairs, Clinical Chiefs, departmental leaders, and others to engender support for initiatives and understand others’ perspectives.

Responsible for supporting the integration of new affiliate organizations to UCLA Health; pre-affiliation, the incumbent will work with strategy, finance, and operational teams to assess risks, mitigation strategies, and overall cost-benefit analysis.

Coordinate services and strategize ongoing business development opportunities with established UCLA Health affiliates and joint venture partners (e.g., SCOI, Encino Surgery Center).

Communicate on behalf of UCLA Health and relevant stakeholders to outside partners to assist in the generation of business opportunities, support driving customer value, and overall revenue growth.

The successful incumbent will partner and collaborate with system-wide services such as IT, HR, marketing, financial services, contracting, procurement, and others.

Extensive experience with certified ambulatory surgery centers (AAA HA/JACHO/etc.) is required.
Experience with opening and scaling ambulatory surgery centers is required
Working in a highly matrixed environment is preferred.
Four to six years of increasingly responsible experience in healthcare delivery with a proven track record in clinical operations, analytics, and related planning.
Experience working with physician, nursing, and other clinical professionals.
Demonstrates a leadership style that builds and maintains a climate of trust and inspires commitment from others to achieve organization goals within UCLA and in conjunction with community partners.
Recognizes the need for change; adapts to, and causes others to adapt to values, strategies, goals and plans in response to changing business conditions.
Competent in all aspects of patient care delivery, accreditation standards and knowledge of other assigned functions, as well as development and management of operational and capital budgets.
Able to develop business plans, financial forecasts, and pro-formas
